My husband served on Virginia class submarines for 25 years. I did one family cruise, for about 8 hours, and I was DONE.

Oh! Don’t forget “hot racking”: there’s not enough beds so as soon as your shift is done you roll into one that someone is just leaving. Everything I’ve heard about submarines is genuinely awful. :) - a former sailor

I did 10 years. UGH! Seafoam green! 😵💫. Fun fact, Doc has to pierce your eardrums before you put on the seize suit to go get exploded on the way up. 😂. Nope! My dad did 26 years on nuclear subs. Occasionally they'd let the families go on board to tour the sub. Did that exactly one time and said absolutely fucking not lol

Longest I did was 88 days without the sun. Your cuts and scrapes (I was a mechanic on nuclear plant) never heal, just an annoying wound, while underway and then immediately turn into scars upon returning to vitamin D. 😂
