I wonder how often it's endometriosis. because that was penetrating my colon and was a fun surprise for everyone mid-surgery when I had my hysterectomy.

I had this. Went to pelvic floor therapy. Paid $200 to be told to drink water and buy an owala. Long story short, I still have it.

I think this is me. I just had a colonoscopy this week. Glad I had it, because a polyp was found. However, I don’t think that solves my constipation issue. I always feel like gas and stool can’t come out—like a wall is there. Laxatives just hurt my tummy and make it worse.

I was constipated my entire life until I had a C-Section when I was 39. Since then, I’ve gone every morning without fail. I swear they untangled something when they put me back together!

Ok but when pelvic floor PT doesn’t work what then? I’ve tried everything. What are the other treatments that’d be tried thereafter? If nothing else works? Please help

I was constipated my entire life until I got a colonoscopy at 50, they discovered redundant colon and put me on medication. Now? Noooooo problems at all! Doctors never listened or helped me before.

What about incomplete evacuation? Smallish amount 4-5 times per day

this is exactly why it’s so important for Gastros to understand endometriosis and the signs to help screen bc sooo many OBs miss it!

Sitz marker tests. Radiology hates me. I ordered defacography and you’d have thought I wanted someone to go to mars. Forget balloon expulsion.

My favorite topic!! Thanks for speaking on this!! Always make sure the pelvic PT treats this!!! Unfortunately not all pelvic PTs address this if they specialize in more pregnancy/postpartum.

I did the defecation disorder program at Mayo after being diagnosed with dyssenergic defecation and a rectocele, and it was so helpful! The actual exercises we did during the appointments were not fun (literally practicing pooping with water balloons), but it was worth it!

Could this be caused by a high and too tight pelvic floor? Because the pelvic floor specialist I saw gave me a squatty potty but I’m not finding it helpful, I usually have to lean backwards it seems the easiest position

I probably have this but pelvic floor therapy hasn't helped much. and laxatives work short term. bowel movement are usually difficult and painful. I have a analrectal manometry test a long while back and its embarrassing yes but if your pelvic floor is locked when the do the quick push in the balloon its hurts bad I yelped. its probably discomfort to some who's pelvic floor isn't as bad but I not only felt embarrassed and uncomfortable I was in tears by the time it was done and felt almost violated by the end of the test as well. they didnt want to do a colonoscopy at that gastro because it was invasive but wanted that test and mentally it messed me up way worse than the colonoscopy I had done at a different doctor about a year after (felt fine after the colonoscopy). and they never actually diagnosed it.
