@evelynmiller48: Invisible symptoms with a chronic illness can be some of the most draining, frustrating and lonely symptoms. MS continues to hit my cognative abilities and it’s tough. However, sharing the experience and giving myself grace through the change helps. Be kind not only to other but to yourself. #multiplesclerosis #msawareness #chronicillness #chronicfatigue #creatorsearchinsights
I was diagnosed 12 years ago. I was always prepared to lose my ability to walk. I was not prepared to no longer be able to understand what I read, lose entire days of memory and unable to make decisions. My neurologist said that by mid 50s it will likely mimic dementia. My OT said that I can probably keep my physical independence for a while but she is more concerned about my ability to be independent bc of the cognitive decline. it's scary and terrifying but worse than that, it is heartbreaking. I feel like I'm trapped and being held hostage in a body and a brain that is no longer mine.

Do you have any emotional dysregulation from it? I go to the doctors and I’m a mess. Doctor is like how are you doing and I just start to cry. I can clear it up in a minute or so but I’m just an emotional mess.

This has been the hardest for me to navigate. I hate to say this but so much of my identity has been rooted in my intelligence and I’m currently a doctoral student and this is the first time I have EVER struggled in school and the stutter and forgetting mid sentence scare me!!

I am 53 and have talked to my nuero about my cognitive decline at my last 2 appointments, first time he said it comes with age. 2nd appt. I basically told him I want testing for a baseline. They gave me a one page test and said I was fine🤬🤬

I hate that I feel like I’m the only one. I hate being 48 and can’t remember things from that morning. I absolutely never wanted to be a burden to anyone but here I am

Cognitive decline effects me more than anything. I’ve been in cognitive rehab for almost two years and has really helped me adapt, self aware and accepting. It’s hard and it sucks💜

I do not have an MS diagnosis and am being treated for “early lupus”. I relate to this so much. Last week I couldn’t think of the word TOMORROW! I just think MS fits my symptoms so much more than lupus.

The brain ain’t braining like it use to :(. I feel like I just go blank all the time, especially when someone asks me a question I wasn’t expecting or sometimes I can’t form a sentence or get the words out correctly or I say the entirely wrong word than what I wanted go say.
