A great step is to not allow them on the table where the food is. Cats understand tone, if you’re keeping a lucky go happy tone when telling them no it isn’t gonna go far.

When we adopted our older cat, she had no interest in our food. We got a kitten and she taught her not to bother us while we’re eating. 🙂

people really need to start understanding training a cat = living together and gently guiding them to what you want them to do and not like lots of other people do spraying with water,yelling, slapping,... cats are independent being they don't care to listen to arguments they work with respect and understanding what is expected from them

yep I've been saying no like this to my two kitties since they were babies and they listen to it and most of the time don't even bother going near human food anymore. my mom did not do it to her two so they'll just shove their faces into your plate with no warning either.
