@cbsmiami: Open carry officially begins in Florida after a federal appeals court recently struck down the state’s decades-old ban on openly carrying firearms, ruling it violated the Second Amendment. The ruling went into effect Sept. 25, prompting Attorney General James Uthmeier to assert it as “the law of the state” and instruct law enforcement not to arrest law‑abiding citizens carrying visible guns. However, the new open carry landscape is not without limits. Private property owners can still prohibit firearms on their premises, and failure to comply could be considered armed trespassing. Numerous locations such as schools, courthouses, prisons, polling places, and more remain off‑limits under state or federal law.
