Reading James Alison’s “You can if you want to” right now. Love it. Helps me understand and put in context the what the Bible does and doesn’t say about LGBTQ folks. Makes me feel so much better as a Catholic mom of two trans adults. I knew in my heart God would never reject any of his children, but I’m glad to learn the historical context!

The word homosexuality didn't exist until the 19th century, therefore it couldn't have been in the Bible for obvious reasons. The Old Testament condemns sodomy which was used to refer to a range of homosexual and heterosexual "unnatural sex acts” in other words: unreproductive sex.

imagine what's left on the cutting room floor when king james put his 2 cents in . my co worker said if I didn't read the King James version we didn't serve the same God . he reads the CSB that was put together from 17 denominations for the non-denominational churches .
