You missed the point of her video! Shes talking about greed. She was already there paying for a consultation and she will pay for the actual service but the derm did not even consider the time and money pt has to take just to come back for 1 minute.

Derms are getting paid for what they know not the time it takes to apply that knowledge. No different than any other career field. It might take a plumber 5 minutes to unclog your toilet but they know how to do it quickly which is why they charge what they do!

Derm medical assistant here, as someone who has worked with cosmetic and medical derm providers, patients should be thankful for the expertise and specialization! Dermatologists do not write the insurance laws. I appreciate your patience with her; you’re so kind and professional. Great video 💗

One thing i learned is never be afriad to charge for your expertise/ time, because when i learned that unqualified people were charging rediculous amounts for “supplements” (now thats the real scam) and other things and they dont even have the degree to back it up. I was like wow! Learned fast, never be ashamed

People are really missing the part where she admits she had a list of complaints. I’m guessing the 10-15 min scheduled visit was long past the allotted appt time and she was asking another question. I have patients return for separate visits all of the time for even medically necessary things. I have to in order to see and care for all of the patients who are scheduled. The second issue is billing. If the derm does not have the time to appropriately discuss the MEDICAL management of the condition (eg. rosacea) beyond cosmetic laser, it is not appropriate to bill medical insurance for that complaint and the claim can get rejected. We cannot simply give professional advice and just *not* document it. It’s not how it works.
