50 years ago Divorce was really difficult, societal norms were really different and the only backbone a women could have was her husband. Now women can work, they can support themselves, they can divorce freely, and they have independence.

no they didn't, the only changes are that now having a longterm relationship without marriage is not taboo . marriage no longer has the impact on religion success, it never did . marriage is an out dated event that costs more money, than many relationships want to give to work at being together. marriage should be an event to celebrate being together for 20 years 👏👏👏

Guys, the actual message the speaker is giving across is how nowadays marriage is not taken seriously! At no point is he agreeing with or stating that you should go into a marriage which is either forced, filled with domestic violence or abusive. Yes, sadly, a majority of marriages were like that and still happen until this day, but the message here is referring to those marriages which had full consent on both sides, contained mutual understanding and communication was vital, filled with love and the intention to make it work through the end, healthily.

lol my grandparents wouldn't have been together also my grandma was called old because she wasnt married at 21. 21! if it weren't for the amount of shame that divorce brought. now people have more freedom and are allowed to leave if they aren't happy, and have time to find a partner they actually like instead of marrying after 2 months of knowing each other
