Happened to me too as a train conductor. unfortunately "my" swan was injured and stood in the most unfortunate place on the tracks. He couldn't get away by itself. Caught it, took him with us in the train to the next station and handed him over to our Animal Ambulance.

all swans belong to the royal family in the UK. there is even a real job title called "King's Swan Marker" used to be called "Kings Swan Master". So yes the train has to wait for the swan as harming a swan in the UK WILL NOT END WELL FOR YOU.
