@jeremyethier: I trained one side of my body heavy and the other side light for 60 days. Here’s the results. Now I’ve gotta somehow correct all my imbalances 😂
So please don’t ever doubt Pilates! Cause that’s essentially the light weight.

this is due to swelling of the muscle due to high volume, yes in the short term light weight more reps will make u appear bigger due to swelling but in the long term heavy weight less reps (5-8) will cause more muscle growth

3-5 reps are NOT for muscular growth!!! 3-5 is what fighters do to gain pure strength without gaining weight, to prevent going to a higher category.

So what do you recommend for a beginner?

Do both, go for strength when you’re well fed, slept well, energetic. Otherwise, go for volume. Sometimes I mix in one session, high weights low reps on the flat bench for example, and then lower weight higher reps on the incline.

the point is going to failure though, I don't think moderate reps would do it

My theory is we don’t no what works and we also don’t know what other uncontrolled variables can come in to play to make certain things work so therefore we should do everything all the time so if one thing doesn’t work the other will…I think that…works???😂

it's also important to consider your cardio and hormonal needs! more reps is longer time, and probably more cardio, but also more time under load increases cortisol, which can be annoying for PCOS patients who want to lose weight

Read an Arnold book. You don’t have to train heavy to get good results. You should however step your weight down as you go until you’re reaching failure at around 3-6 reps. Training heavy just means you’re likely to cheat on some lifts.

this TikTok actually said it. it depends on the muscle. you have to understand what each one is for, how you use them and what you want to achieve. weight strength and body strength are 2 different things. I always went for endurance, so reps of 20 with 1 minute rests between sets
