Black widows have a bad rep, very few fatalities, usually hurts like a wasp or hornet sting. I’ve been bit a few times as an outdoorsy kid. If you’re not compromised in some way, a healthy adult doesn’t need to be worried about black widows. Everyone should be more worried about brown recluses.

I just learned right now that black widows don't live everywhere. I seriously thought they were just everywhere.

Black widows are very docile and shy. And their webs are VERY recognizable, strong, chaotic messy and you will know immediately if you touch a widow web. They are very locked into where they are, even if you relocate them outside, they’ll come back to the same spot.

black widow spiders are chill, they really don't want any drama. good neighbor and all that.

To be clear errbody: I did not find a black widow in my home— I just decided to look up Black Widows after identifying the Feather-Legged Spider in my kitchen… I am just being silly, as I am wont to do. I know most spiders leave you alone if you leave them alone. I appreciate them, and I try not to kill them. And I am still afraid of all of them venomous or no ✌🏾

You having to sit down and come to terms with the fact that the world was never what you thought it was. 😂😭 on a positive note, black widows are very docile and like to hide. which is why you had no idea you lived with them for so long.

They’re extreme rare up this way if it makes you feel better. Most likely the dark black spiders with big fat butts are just orb weavers

Please have your home sprayed if you found one inside. They can invade your home. They are all over the US. Only place they aren't found is Antarctica.

Widows are chill, just sweep and dust regularly and most web builders will stick to the garage, its the recluses you want to be careful of
