@happyheart_happyhome: The day of Guardian and Keeper’s rescue.. is forever one of my favorites because the odds were so stacked against us. It was a freezing cold January day and both boys were in such poor shape. Driving home from the auction I felt a horse lay down in the trailer and stopped to confirm. It was Guardian and he was too weak to get himself back up. There was nothing I could do on the road.. so I drove it easy the rest of the way home and after unloading Keeper, I worked on inching Guardian out of the trailer. With the skid steer and sling I was able to get him onto the ground and heated him up some warm mash to give him some energy. I sat there waiting… expecting to need to help him to his feet.. and without hesitation he got up when he was ready. He marched off strong.. never once looking back… and to see him today.. you’d almost not recognize him if it wasn’t for his unique star and stripe. . . These big kids.. they’re tough. Gosh they fight.. they fight for the life they always deserved but they resent no one. They ask for very little.. and almost always.. they are so willing to trust again. . . Today is $5 Friday for feed.. and we could really use everyone’s help reaching our goal. Every week we go through 110-120 bags of grain at $25 a bag. It would be amazing to have as many of those bags sponsored as possible. I know things are tight for everyone right now, so please never feel obligated or bad.
