Hi Clara, I’m so sorry for your loss. I also lost my little sister, Khaeli—she took her life a year and a half ago (02/24/2024). She will forever be 19, and I was only 21 at the time. I just watched your video about grieving, and I relate so deeply. It’s truly one of the most isolating and devastating experiences I’ve ever faced. I’m 22 now, with a baby on the way—her name will be Iris Lynn, in honor of my sister. I wish I could tell you that grief fades with time, but the truth is, it doesn’t. Every day I grieve my baby sister, and I’m reminded of the milestones she’ll never share with me—meeting my daughter, standing by me as my maid of honor. What I’ve learned, though, is to wear that grief on my sleeve, to honor it, and to give myself grace. The journey is so hard, and I lost many people I thought would support me through it. But what’s helped me is reminding myself daily that I’m living my life in her honor. Give yourself the same grace. Look for your brother in everything around you. The tears will still come, but over time, the memories will start to bring more smiles than pain. 💛
