So you kind of lost me at the start, but I stuck around and liked the rest. The League of Nations was dissolved. It did not evolve into the UN, which was a new organization. It just transferred its remaining assets as a final piece of business. The league was a failure, starting with the original premise of preventing a second world war. Wilson couldn't even get the US to join it. The UN was set up to be more active and to recognize the greater weight of being an established superpower -- not particularly egalitarian, but the alternative was to have votes that were even more meaningless, because the major powers would just ignore them. also really can't figure out what's wrong with the term human rights, which if anything should be reclaimed, and I love how you frame wokeness in the context of human rights, because That's what we need people to see, that being woke is really just an expression of pretty normative values in a modern democracy and beyond. Sec. Clinton said that women's rights are human rights. I think we now need to say that being woke is also believing in human rights, because being woke means recognizing injustice and being serious about addressing it. How can you have human rights without that? Also don't get why it's bad to use a French declaration as one source, especially when its faults are recognized explicitly from the start. Should we not allow the institutions of a racist society to become an anti-racist, at least to try?
