clean the dry pan, apply a thin, even coat of high-heat cooking oil to the entire surface, and then bake it in a hot oven (around 450°F / 230°C) for about an hour, placing it upside down on the middle rack with a baking sheet below to catch drips. Repeat this process multiple times to build up a slick, non-stick layer of polymerized oil, which creates the protective seasoning.

need to heat it up first to get rid of moisture then add oil then let it cool down, remember cast iron can rust very quick

I have a iron skillet that was passed down from my great great grandmother she was given when she was given as a wedding gift and you just wash it dry it on the stove and wipe it with oil or bacon grease and let it sit on the stove
