Hyper independence is a trauma response, took me a long time to accept that, I have always been my family’s most distant and independent child.

I studied abroad one year in college. This girl in my program had her parents fly over with her and help her get settled. It’s a rainy country so her dad did a ton of research and bought her a special umbrella. I was 100% alone. I think about that girl and how lucky she was to have

When I tell my dad my problems he says, “You’ll figure it out, you always do.” Uhhhhh yeah, because you don’t help. I don’t talk to him anymore.

Addiction really is a spiritual crisis… it shows how powerful devotion is when it has no direction. You keep going back to the same ritual, sacrificing your health, your dignity, your relationships… that’s devotion too. The soul gives itself fully, and devotion doesn’t discriminate. It can attach to a bottle, a pill, a lover, or a god. The energy doesn’t care—that’s why you have to choose your altar consciously. Like water, the current is the same, but where you pour it decides everything. Pour it into poison and it kills you, pour it into fertile ground and it feeds you. Cravings don’t just disappear, but over time they become the fire you learn to sit with. Every time you sit with it instead of running, that’s devotion being pulled back from the false altar and returned to your spirit. That’s the alchemy of healing—turning destruction into fuel for creation. If you want to go deeper into this kind of healing, I’d strongly recommend reading Healing Isn’t Pretty by Mira Hartson

I was moving into my dorm and all the dads on my floor came to my room to help me lay my carpet bc they saw me doing everything alone. Neither parent showed. That’s when it hit me 🥺💕

My dad does this for me and now I. Don’t know how to be independent… I constantly rely on a man for everything at 34. I’m so grateful I have an amazing dad, but I have 0 drive or ambition and I look for men who will spoil me and take care of me. But a part of me craves independence

100% agree. I was raised by a single mom & she did everything right- above & beyond. But now, I’m on a mission to make sure that MY children have a wonderful father & role model. I refuse to give a man children unless I know 10000% that man will be there for them at all times just like I wish my father was there for me 💔 this generational trauma ends with me 💔😭

I avoid going to the park because I’m lowkey afraid of seeing a happy family with both parents. It makes me feel lonely and isolated, however, I’m still happy for all those with a healthy family.
