I think he was waiting for back up, but the suspects forced his hand by parking in the apartment complex. I do agree on the felony stop though.

If the vehicle was involved in a carjacking always wait for additional units. As many units as possible. Sometimes you have to make a show of force. Whether it's needed or not.

Sure his tactics to approach may have been poor but we also need to seriously commend this officer big time for his insanely great marksmanship skills! The fact that he got shot multiple times, fell to the ground and was still able to return fire and land multiple shots on the actual shooter at a distance in that cluster fuck of a situation while shooting 1 handed, I've seen other cops that couldn't even get a hit on the guy at point blank range! Its clear this officer NEVER skips range day!! Absolutely love this guy!
