George Orwell reported people to British MI6. Timothy Snyder does not verify sources and does not care, especially when talk of any communism. These books are liberal backwash, meant to reinforce liberal capitalism. The exact type of system that allowed for fascism to rise to power 100 years ago, and today.

agree. total waste of time. you need systemic analysis of the impersonal donation of the economic forces in order to understand authoritarianism, tyranny and fascism in our society. abstract transhistorical notions of power lose the essence in authors like Arendt and Orwell (they have nothing to add to Shakespeare)

1984 and Animal farm are Orwell's lesser works. Down and Out in Paris and London, Road to Wigan Pier, Shooting an Elephant, Homage to Catalina are all better reads

Don't read the 1936 noval It Can't Happen Here by Sinclair Lewis. It's alarmist to explore how fascism would come to the U.S. The Nobel Prize it won was so misguided and overly dramatic. Sheesh!

I disagree with you on Orwell, Animal Farm and 1984 are classics. Second only to Sohlenistyn, when analysing Stalinism. Those of us who live in postcolonial societies have every reason to understand tyranny. Speak for yourself notthe universe.
