$1.25M should not be your goal if that’s your only income source outside of SS. Assuming 2.5% inflation, $1.25M at 40 is equivalent to ~$840k today. 4% Rule is guideline for 30yrs, so for retiring at 40 probably 3% SWR so only ~$25k/yr equivalent, plus maybe $20k/yr in SS (you are high income but 40 is not enough working years for the formula). If you want say the equivalent of $100k/yr today, then at 40 your goal should be ~$5M.
