up until school age, the children of immigrants tend to have the accent of their parents. however, upon reaching school age they tend to move towards the local accent, picking it up from their peers

My friend has British parents but grew up in Canada. She switched from a Canadian accent to a British accent when she talks to her parents but used her Canadian accent when she talks to me

Funny enough my cousin moved to England as an adult. I saw her this past summer and she has a bit of an English accent from living there. It all depends on your environment.

I can answer! We moved to Australia when my kid was 3 (she’s 5) and she has a full-on Aussie accent now. Maybe small glimpses of the old accent but it’s diminishing by the day 😅

Andrew Garfield was born in the US and he has a British accent. I would assume it’s based on how you learn English. My mom grew up in Pakistan but learned English in the US when she moved here. My grandmother however still has an accent but speaks English.

Not sure if this answers your question, but Robert and Bindi Irwin were born and raised in Australia. Their mother is American, but both kids have Australian accents.

just think it depends on where you also live, if you live in England probably pick up English accent, you live in America you probably pick up the American accent

I had my parents’ Malaysian accent until middle schoolish. After 9th grade I went to a summer camp and my parents said I came back “sounding so white.” Now I sound like every other American
