As a VA Nurse, I can confirm this!!! VA needs to get better at finding the root cause of symptoms/disease and focus on a more holistic treatment plan vs just pharmeceuticals. They rarely ever stop medications, unless a Veteran refuses to continue taking it.

I at one point was prescribed 14 meds. I refused so many. Down to 3. 2 of mine had side affects of death if combined. Drs never noticed

ointments, gels, vitamins, support orthopedic braces, eye glasses, denture cleaner ,pain release patches, allergy medicine, cold or flu medicine, just about anything you see on the shelf in the wal mart pharmacy lol

That's bull. Can't get my psych meds there. I have to keep my psychiatrist outside of the VA. When I considered getting a VA psych instead, they said they wouldn't honor my prescriptions I've been on for 6 years...
