Nouf :
As a woman from an Arabic Gulf country, I had one of my worst travel experiences in Turkey. With my female friend, we were chased by two men trying to rob us, and when we ran into a hotel lobby for safety, the receptionist told us, “Not my problem, go out.” Beyond that, people were generally rude, giving constant stares and making us feel unwelcome. To make matters worse, every taxi ride turned into a negotiation, with drivers demanding a higher price than Uber every single time — exhausting and ruining parts of each day. I’ve traveled often, but this was the first time I truly felt unsafe. Honestly, instead of advertising themselves as a tourist destination, Turkey should admit they don’t offer genuine hospitality when visitors are treated this way.
