the hollow knight series is known for its implicit story telling and use of symbology but I guess unless it's clearly said it's impossible that a game about bugs could ever be anything but a game about bugs🙄

CRAWSMOST :
see the game has obvious themes of motherhood/woman experiences in many places (literally a zone called The Cradle) but its so sad people just ignore it all and think we are just woke or something

"the game is not political!" they say. Meanwhile, both Hollow Knight and Silksong had been about toppling oppressive and controlling leadership.

also, one of the key themes of the game is motherhood. so its not like a metaphor for abortion is out of left field

I think the outcast thing is a stretch that guy isn’t a registered doctor but what sealed me on the theory was that we find the parasite in the cradle.

dude it’s justa a game about little bugs!… that are manipulated by a higher power into a life of servitude with the false hope that if you work hard enough you will earn a place among the elite… so yeah… not political at all

I never thought it was abortion because it's a plant and because it literally kills a God... Did I also mention it's a plant?

It's definitely a metaphor for SA, but the abortion part is a bit muddled by the fact that you don't remove the bud, the operation just untangles the bud enough that Hornet can suppress it, and from that point on she can use its power for herself in the form of the crest you get

People having different takes about what this questline represents really shows how good the writing is in this game. What I don't get is why so many people are so dismissive about literally the most on the nose aspects of it. Women have abortions. Hornet is a woman. Grow up.

the whole political aspect is a little con fusing but it's being taken out of context and that's excluding the whole abortion point
