I do this 🥰 another thing that helped me is just telling me that I don't have to sleep, I'm just resting and it will be good for my body to rest even if I don't sleep at all. Less pressure and usually I can sleep now but I had bad insomnia earlier

idk why but the phrase “i am going to get the sleep i get” has helped me a lot. radical acceptance that i have limited control and no matter what i will make it work. it makes it feel like less of a failure of mine.

To avoid intrusive thoughts when I try to fall asleep I list 5 things I am grateful for that day, 5 things I a proud of myself for that day etc. To avoid falling asleep on a bad note ☁

This technique hasn't worked for me because I just end up thinking of words/concepts that induce more anxiety 😭 I try and recall more specific things now. like literally just trying to recall tiktok videos I saw that day or going through the past few days and trying to remember all the meals I had

Used to be me. What helped my anxiety the most is going alcohol free. I’ll have it every once in a while the same way I do a soda- but it’s not in my diet on a weekly basis anymore and it’s been life changing

One thing I've learned is that sometimes the goal isn't to force sleep—it's to help your body feel safe enough to rest. Thanks for opening up about your experience. 🌙

I do this but with gratitude. Something I am genuinely grateful for that starts with the letter R, or whatever. It gives the thought a pleasant focus.

I literally just saw a video about how medieval monks used to deliberately get up and work for an hour or so at 3 am without alarm clocks or sunrise or anything to wake them because supposedly this is in line with our natural circadian rhythms and is a very productive time? Kind of interesting because it seems like anecdotally a lot of us do wake up in the middle of the night at least once.
