About the obituary there’s NO excuse for them to take her name off. My grandpa had 18 kids. My dad alone has 7. I have an aunt w 15 kids! And ALL of my dad’s siblings have at least 1 kid. We were all still mentioned in his news article obituary.

Cutting her out of the obituary and then having it removed from the funeral home's website is so messed up. Why go to all that trouble? I'm so sad for OP and I'm so glad she cut them out.

so, the only thing I can think of is that the dad told his family that OP was an affair baby. I don't know if she was or not, but the way the family completely cut her off suggests that they think she's not really part of the family.

The way grandma worded the invite sounds like she didn’t really want OP there. Same thing happened to my dad: my aunt put her daughters quinceañera a day that would be difficult for him to go and said “I understand if you can’t come sometimes it’s possible sometimes it’s not. His other sister on the other hand is already asking my dad what days can he make it so she can plan accordingly.

coming at this from a diff angle,, but lowkey i think the grandpa was probs abusive to his children when they were younger and that’s why they say he’s a monster. that doesn’t excuse the children tho. i’m saying this bc this sounds like my fam a lot and this is what happened when my grandpa died. i loved him a lot, but he was horrible to my mom when she was little. she used to trash him all the time in front of me even tho i loved him deeply. it hurts, but that’s just how it is ig.

I feel bad for her. my grandfather decided to be taken off breathing machines from lung cancer while I was in the hospital having my son. they told me the same day he was born. then my grandmother changed the day they would do a service for him to while I was still in the hospital recovering instead of waiting the 5 days they were initially going to so I didn't get to be there. I was the oldest granddaughter and his favorite from the time I was born. it still saddens me to this day. my grandmother died less than a month later and my mom made me attend the funeral. everyone was getting up and talking about their fondest memories and I literally got up and walked out. still to this date I hate her for taking the option of saying goodbye away from me. it's been 19 years (minus half a month) now I have never been able to get over that feeling.

I knew 100% that I was probably my grandfather's least favorite grandchild out of like 20 but his death KILLED me. OPs relationship woth her grandfather was probably more than theyre making it seem. theyre justified in their sadness
