@jessiecole007: If you are unable to remain accountable for a child you put in your vehicle from the time it takes to fasten them in and take them back out then you should not be operating a vehicle. #cps #socialwork #childleftincar #dobetter #childfatalities

Last year, I responded to a child fatality. The father forgot to drop child at school. The child died inside the car while the parent was inside the home. 😭😭 broke my heart!

No way is it ok. And at the same time, I can see some situations accidentally (not normally the parent to do drop-off) - so alarms, etc are a good safety measure. But making a conscious choice to do it - inexcusable.

I see all your points and raise you a “did they have a village?” For the tired moms. I was at one point the sleep deprived mom that had to take off work and ask my mom to take my little to school because I needed a rest. Not everyone has that support and I always pray that DSS(CPS) gives resources and doesn’t take the child for the mom being exhausted. I worked 3 jobs at one point to make ends meet as a single mom with no support.

I used to keep a book in the car so if they really needed it and fell asleep and I didn't want to move them I just read till they woke up.

I forgot my dog in the back seat when I stopped by my parents really quick recently. She was just so quiet back there I forgot I brought her with me. I realized within like 10 minutes but I will absolutely be getting an alarm.

My CPS worker felt that it was okay to have my 10-month-old forward-facing and then told me that I had no business questioning them on my child come to find out he had been forward-facing since he was 6 months old because it was easier for his foster parents to get him in and out of the vehicle but they wanted to go ahead and in court question if I knew proper car seat safety when I was the one telling my caseworker proper car seat safety. also found out that on a few different occasions my children were left in a vehicle alone my children at the time was 2&1 and an infant. only how I found that out is the very first Foster parent that they stuck my infant son with after my case is closed out and everything we found out was my cousin who had been looking for my side of the family for a few years and she let me know what the foster parents who last had my kids was doing because I guess they were all friends
