@davis.destinations_: One thing Brad always makes sure he does before we hit the road in our RV is the pull test. The pull test is a quick but critical RV safety step before you start driving. It’s basically a way to make sure your fifth wheel is properly hitched to your tow vehicle. Here’s how it works and why it matters: 1. Hook up your trailer as normal – make sure the hitch is latched, locked, and the safety pin is in place. 2. With the trailer brakes engaged (using your brake controller), gently press the gas so your truck tries to pull forward. 3. If the trailer is properly connected, it will “hold” and you won’t move forward. If it’s not hitched correctly, it’ll disconnect safely in place instead of flying off down the road. 👉 This 10-second test could prevent a dangerous situation later on the highway. It’s a must-do step for peace of mind before every trip.
Would probably lift the jacks a little before doing that but that ford probably doesn’t have enough power to bend them

if it's coupled and locked wheres it gonna go? if you insist on checking wouldn't it be easier to just lock the brakes on the brake controller then just pull forward .

Always! Saved me big time. Had 30k behind me and was getting ready to pull out and found out my hydraulic pump for my brakes on my trailer went out

Similar concept in semis, leave the trailer parking brakes engaged and lift off the clutch until it bogs down

I also do that test even tho I have a travel trailer (not a fifth wheel) just to make sure the electric brakes are working properly before heading out

If it’s locked and pinned the pull test is irrelevant. It is mechanically impossible to become disconnected once those jaws are locked and properly pinned.
