For many Nigerian children, Sunday evenings came with a sense of excitement that was hard to explain. Long before the story began, there was often a race to secure the best spot in front of the television. . Then came the familiar exchange: “Hello Children!” “Hello Auntie!” . With Aunty Nkem Oselloka-Orakwue leading the way, Tales by Moonlight brought stories, songs and lessons into homes across the country. Children listened attentively, joined in the folk songs and followed stories that often ended with lessons they would carry with them long after the programme was over. . Week after week, children gathered around their television sets, eager to hear the next story. The excitement was real, and for many, Sunday evenings were simply not complete without Tales by Moonlight. . The children who sat at Aunty Nkem’s feet are grown now, but the memories remain. For many, Tales by Moonlight was more than a television programme. It was a cherished part of childhood. . A lifelong advocate for children, Aunty Nkem continued her work beyond the programme. During her 70th birthday celebration in 2019, she launched her book, Society and Child, at the premises of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Port Harcourt, further reflecting her commitment to the welfare and development of children. . . . #TalesByMoonlight #AuntyNkem #Nostalgia #ChildhoodMemories #NostalgicSoundNG
