There's literally no "pleats" on this dress at all, the fabric just happens to drape from a similar spot. This dress looks almost like a long scarf was tied around the waist in a knot, not pleated.

Yes it looks like sari pleats. No they haven’t culturally appropriated anything. This is completely different from “Scandinavian scarves” and “boho jewelry” because that was actually cultural appropriation and this is just fashion - an Indian girl

Yall do realize people can get inspired by other clothing right??? That’s the whole point of creativity and imagination. A skirt and a little top is not something new. Making a dress sheer is not new either. They combined the two. Yeah another culture may have it but that doesn’t mean we can’t also have one? That’s not how the world works. If it’s religious than that’s weird but if it’s just clothing…then I fear it’s just clothing.
