All the tricks and tips people try to use are crazy. As a manager, I walk up to each table at closing time and say “we are closing right now, your server will be by momentarily to get your payment. If you need anything else, please let me know.”

We had those black booklets to put the checks in and I would just go up and grab it and say “I’ll be right back with your change” knowing it was empty… but 9/10 times it would prompt them to pay 😁
