Mahmud Han Çeşmesi adıyla da bilinen şehrin en büyük üçüncü meydan çeşmesi Tophane Çeşmesi, 18. yüzyıla hakim olan Rokoko akımının en incelikli örneklerinden biri. Inspired by Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror’s passion for science and art, this digital journey highlights the difference between occupying a city by force and winning it through influence. Built in 1732 and also known as the Fountain of Sultan Mahmud I, Tophane Fountain is the city’s third largest square fountain and one of the most exquisite examples of the Rococo style that dominated the 18th century.
