Is iPhone 17 slow motion than previous models? 🧑‍🏫 Let’s look at the theory. iPhone 17 offers slow motion in 4K at 120fps, which is the same as iPhone 16. However, older models max out at 1080p slow motion, so yes, iPhone 17 definitely has an edge over anything prior to the iPhone 16. The A17 chip in the iPhone 17 also brings better processing power, making slow-motion footage smoother. Plus, the improved camera sensor should give better low-light performance and crisper details overall. But what about real-world use? I shoot a lot of slow-motion, especially for product videos and broll. When I used the iPhone 15, most of the times I opted for 60fps in regular video mode, then slowed it down by up to 60%. This was a great way to maintain image quality vs using slow-mo mode. 💡Also remember, higher frame rates require better lighting, so unless you have good artificial lights or shoot outdoors in daylight, slow motion will look pretty 💩. After testing, yes, iPhone 17’s slow motion does outperform the iPhone 15, especially in low-light situations. You can see a noticeable difference when looking at things like the moka pot in the background and coffee beans. As for iPhone 16 vs. 17? Honestly, I didn’t notice a huge difference, especially on social media or smaller screens. So, should you upgrade for slow motion? If you’re coming from an iPhone older than the 16, then yes, it might be worth it. But even with the iPhone 15, I was still getting pretty great slow-mo footage that got me paid and got nice views on socials, so it really comes down to how you use it. That said, there are other video features on the iPhone 17 that are a better reason to upgrade! Stay tuned for more on that! 🎥✨
