The same is done with logging in BC , Ontario and other provinces. Take out all the native vegetation that birds, mammals, insects, etc depend on. We lose those species and their habitat. Then replant with a monospecies like only Douglas Fir. Which is a cash crop only with no thought of the loss of birds, mammals and their natural habitat

You cannot repair the soil once it is contaminated. You cannot restore the fungal networks and microbes that keep the whole show running. Can’t restore the water once its contaminated with selenium.
