@simonsinek: We all have just one WHY. Imagine it as a blueprint—it’s the underlying design that helps you build a life with purpose and direction. #StartwithWHY #FindYourWHY #myWHY
I totally disagree. I have changed myself and changed my why in spite of my upbringing.

How do we find out our Why?

Drew2120 :
A lot of people mix up Why, How and What…
1. Your Why = your deeper purpose (formed in late teens/early 20s, pretty stable)
2. Your How = the values & behaviours you use to live it
3. Your What = the jobs, goals & life choices you make
So when people say “I changed my Why,” they usually mean they changed their How or What. The Why itself doesn’t really change, we just become more aware of it later in life.

I agree to some extent but this doesn’t allow room for people with traumatic or toxic upbringings to deconstruct and grow.

One “why”! To stay healthy to be present for my family. My work “why” to help other stay healthy to be present for their loved ones🌺💫. When did I learned it? When I lost my single mom to cancer at 16.

Nope, you’re constantly changing all through your life, and your Why can change over time.

Disagree. Your values, beliefs and view on the world can drastically change over your life. Surely your why can change too.

I dunno, Simon. Keegan’s study of Adult Development Theory may beg to differ.

Hes not convincing me. im curious why he doesn't make a case, just expects us to believe in limitation. We have a choice despite what anyone says

I don’t think people understand his statement. You keep changing is because you haven’t found your why. The decisions you’ve made is because they were experiences. Not defining your why

So true! Spot on, Simon on that your work why and personal why is the same. I don’t necessarily agree on the fully developed by the time you’re in your late teens. Would love to hear more about that.

You can change your actions, you can change your habits, and you can change the way you present yourself, but your why remains constant no matter what.

I don’t like the concept of being one true self. It’s more a question of: what version of myself do I want to steer towards. And yes your upbringing is an important part. But just like you can shine a light at an object from 1000 different angles and get a different shadow every time, remembering your teens is less about the object & more about the shadow.

I think you limit yourself with only one why I think as people grow, get older, their seasons change, and their why may change

On the cusp of retirement & I still don't know my why. Growing up no one ever asked me "what I wanted to do or become". I was basically told. Now I took the hand I was dealt & ran with it having a better career & education than I expected. But my "why"? no idea
