it went down because nobody wants to insure an old roof they know you will make a claim on. And the government typically protects home owners with catastrophe claims from being surcharged. you make a 3wk water damage claim and you will definitely get a rate increase.

It’s because you have a brand new roof and you have the hip roof credit which is an additional discount because that type of roof shape can handle more wind speed

I'm in Texas. have similar dwelling at 350k. my premium is $1900 with state farm however don't live on the coast like this policy.
