VICTORIA MUTISO'S MURDER — PART 2 THE QUESTION THAT CHANGED THE INVESTIGATION How did former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua appear to know details about the murder of Dr. Victoria Nthunya Mutiso before investigators publicly revealed some of those details? That question has become one of the most intriguing aspects of the investigation into the July 29, 2026 killing of Dr. Mutiso. What began as the shocking murder of a respected mental-health researcher in Nairobi soon developed into a complex investigation involving allegations of careful planning, a long-running land dispute, serving police officers, alleged communications between Gachagua and people connected to the investigation, and a growing political dispute over the direction of the probe. The DCI later told the media that a vehicle obstructed the Uber's path, creating an opportunity for an attacker to target the vehicle. The driver then rushed Dr. Mutiso to Kenyatta National Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her death immediately shocked colleagues, friends, relatives and members of the public. But for investigators, the first challenge was reconstructing exactly what had happened. Who had followed her? Who knew her movements? Who had information about her routine? And most importantly, was the killing random, or had it been planned? Those questions would become central to the investigation.
