I delayed my exam for 6mo. Went from normal to cancerous in 18mo. Had 3yrs of paps, colposcopies every 3mo. LEEP procedures and D&Es galore before I finally had to have a hysterectomy. GET CHECKED, LADIES.

As someone who had to have a LEEP procedure on Halloween, get your annual pap done. Please. If I had skipped that year, it would’ve been full blown cancer by the time they found it. Instead, it was just several layers of cells they had to remove.

If it helps anyone, schedule it either before your period or two weeks later. The only time I’ve had discomfort was when I went the week after my period. Every other time was super quick and painless.

I kept postponing it for years, and when I finally went to the doctor, they found precancerous cells. I had to undergo surgery to remove them. Girls, make sure to get tested before it’s too late

For the most part, the discomfort doesn’t last that long. Going to the dentist is worse for me bc it feels like it takes forever and I hate the sounds the instruments (tools?) make.

In Australia we now to our own Pap smear swab at home and just hand it in to the doctor office to send for testing
