@saysdotcom: A video shared by crew member @Yasemin Acar shows members of the Global Sumud Flotilla putting on life vests and preparing for a possible Israeli interception in international waters. The flotilla, carrying humanitarian aid and activists, says it has now entered the “high-risk zone” in the Mediterranean — an area where past flotillas bound for Gaza have been attacked or stopped. Organisers reported increasing drone activity over the ships, while an Israeli Navy vessel was spotted about 80km away. Israel’s public broadcaster KAN reported that the navy is preparing to intercept the flotilla, transfer activists onto a warship, and tow the boats to Ashdod. The flotilla set sail at the end of August with humanitarian supplies, including medical aid, in an effort to break Israel’s 18-year blockade of Gaza. They had a chance to leave and not continue but they said no. Italy, Cyprus and Israel would take the aid to different ports but they said they were taking a political stance. They are entering an active war zone and have been offered safety but have refused. If Israel now defends itself from the flotilla, they don’t have a leg to stand on. They can try to blame Israel, but it is their responsibility now to continue. Warships won’t get involved.
