They look up to his rebellious character and the fact that he seems to speak up for his beliefs so easily. They envy him. Charlie is a much deeper character, as he often does seek validation from those around him. His actions aren’t just for his own sake, they’re for the sake of those around him. He is a protector, someone who finds a need to protect the ones he loves and that feel as though they failed when they can’t do so.
