What negotiations?! There were none. Democrats were not at the table. I fully support the Senate Dems standing against a CR until the Republicans allow the ACA subsidies to continue. And if anyone thinks the leaders meeting with Trump yesterday was a negotiation, you are sorely wrong.

the whole point to have the type of government that we do is so that all of our representatives can NEGOTIATE. the fact that neither side has been willing to do so for many years is the reason this administration has so much power and why we're heading straight for an authoritarian regime

The shut downs keep happening because Republicans have repeatedly decided to hold our entire country hostage to push through unpopular policies in continuing resolutions, when what they could do is agree that if Congress funds a budget that creates debt, they will automatically raise the debt ceiling to cover the things Congress has funded.

"one or both sides" the Republicans threatened a shutdown unless the Democrats allowed them to severely cut Medicare funding, and sprinkled into all that was stripping trans healthcare on a national level. The Democrats won't allow Medicare to be cut, and Republicans won't budge on the bill's contents. This shutdown entirely rests on the shoulders of the Republican Party.
