im a white English and I've worked in care since leaving school, I've also worked with many white british carers so i don't understand this. it has nothing to do with british people not wanting to do the job, it's everything to do with not being paid enough to live and also care work is one of those jobs you have to actually want to do or not go into the industry otherwise abuse cases arise..

The surprise faces I always get when people ask me where I’m from… I’m Romanian. I’m highly educated first-class Uk degree + master’s. I run my own business.I employ people. I bring value to my community.I help others get back into education. Listen I’m black British and I was holding down 3 jobs working 4 on and 4 off then working in a care home once I finished that job I would go and clean offices I’d be working 70 hours a week.

amen! my ex partner has a restaurant and has struggled for staff ever since Brexit 😳🫠 last year we were trying to recruit waiters on a 28k salary, (so way above minimum wage and only slightly less than nurses and junior doctors) with tips on top of that and whatever free food you desire from the menu whilst working. There was no GCSE's needed or any qualifications and we could have considered you even with gaps in your CV. So I thought not a bad deal at all as I'd been on less just a few years before - with a degree and 5 years of continuous employment behind me - and let's just say it was crickets from the "native" patriot population! 🤣🙈 not long after, I came across a video on tiktok claiming "ThEy'Re StEaLiNg OuR JoBs" so I posted what I've just said above. THEN all the gammons piled on claiming that nearly 30 THOUSAND BRITISH POUNDS for unskilled labour is "not enough" I honestly think people like Andrew Tate and The Kardashians have fried people's brains to think that a life of absolute luxury is normal and therefore despite having 2 GCSE's and an 8 year gap since their last job they're all entitled to a job with a 65k a year salary 🫠

💯. There is also a generation trend on claimants now. It used to be frowned upon however now, people are expecting to be supported financially indefinitely. I can only talk for my community but Indians came and grafted their way up. I’m 3rd gen here and none of us have claimed benefits…we worked our way up.

I used to work in recruitment. Had a lot of British people come in and ask for PT roles.They didn’t want more hours because their benefits would otherwise stop. We only did Full time hours, so they didn’t want the job at all.

As a white British carer I can confirm before I left my previous employer majority of the new carers they were getting were foreign and they were amazing at their jobs!

Today at work, something unbelievable happened. A 33-year-old guy came in, supposed to do a 7.5-hour shift. After only half an hour, he looks at me and says he’s going home because he’s tired. I asked, “Why are you leaving already?” He said, “My legs hurt, I’m going home.” Then he added that Universal Credit sent him to try working… but he’s been on benefits since he was 18, and he’s not planning to work. Just walked out. A normal job, nothing crazy and he just refused.

We are gathering capital and moving back home. We contribute a lot and respect the British culture and traditions but we are not wanted we move. The country is already depressing enough. Politicians go to bed and wake up the next day with new outrageous policies making the life the legal migrants a living hell.
