From chaos to calm in minutes. This little Chihuahua started off doing what most reactive dogs do: barking, lunging, and rehearsing the same pattern every time another dog walks by. Most people try to “comfort” it, pick it up, or avoid everything… but that teaches the dog one thing: “My reaction works.” What changed here wasn’t magic — it was clarity + structure: • Create distance first (so the dog can actually think) • Mark and reward calm (or correct the escalation depending on the dog) • Redirect into a simple job (heel / focus / sit) • Repeat the pass-by until calm becomes the default After a few minutes of coaching the owner and working the dog, the Chihuahua walked by almost neutral — because we stopped practicing the meltdown and started practicing calm. If your dog loses it on walks, don’t accept that as “just their personality.” It’s a pattern — and patterns can be changed.
