@amberhorsburgh_: Here are my top book recommendations on the women's issues that I talk about. Celebrity Memoirs. I'm bloody obsessed with celebrity memoirs. To me, celebrities are the Tom Bradys of entertainment. These women experience more pressure than you or I will ever probably ever face. I challenge anyone to read Viola Davis, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Crystal Hefner, or Mariah Carey's and not feel punched in the guts by it. The Beauty Myth by Naomi Wolf Written in the '90s, the author's had controversies, but the overall message is right. The female beauty standard keeps women too hungry, distracted and broke to legitimately compete with men. A Room of One's Own by Virginia Woolf. Women need a way to write about their experiences without consequence. Woolf was asked to lecture about female fiction authors, researched, and realized there were none. This was 1929. Men were writing women as objects of desire, not as full human being. All I Ever Wanted Was to Be Hot by Lucinda Price A hybrid memoir-investigation of a millennial Australian dealing with body image. Every page I thought 'I could've written that'. Which shows how universal these experiences actually are. The Motherhood Complex by Melissa Hogenboom If you were thrust into motherhood and thinking... the fuck? This is your next read. These books develop your empathy muscle for women and help you understand what we're really up against. I'm excited you get to read them. #BookTok #BookRecommendations #readersoftiktok #booksbywomen #femaleauthors Credits: Paris The Memoir by @parishilton The Woman In Me by @britneyspears Finding Me by #ViolaDavis Only Say Good Things by @thecrystalharris The Meaning of Mariah Carey by @mariahcarey The Beauty Myth by #NaomiWolf A Room of One’s Own by #VirginiaWoolf All I Ever Wanted Was To Be Hot by @frooomes The Motherhood Complex by #MelissaHogenboom

Celebrity memoir recs- both Mel B and Mel Cs memoirs. Both gut wrenching in completely different ways and really show both sides of them being pitted against eachother.
