@therareclandolph: Mskiti wa Nuru in Pate old town. This mosque has two mihrabs, both made of coral. Our hypothesis is that the older mihrab was replaced when they needed to dig a new well, which now sits right in front of the western mihrab. The samples I took from this mosque will help us determine which mihrab is older. #lamuarchipelago #archaeology #swahiliarchitecture
