Could not disagree more. Pai is barely Thai, dominated by foreign backpackers. Lousy food, lousy service. Pai, Pattaya,Phuket are my bottom 3 places in Thailand. 25 years here and been to 74 of 77 provinces.

Love Pai! Come visit my small city, Hua Hin. You can fly to Hua Hin nonstop from Chiang Mai. We're about 120 miles south of Bangkok. Beautiful beaches. The King has several royal palaces here so it tends to be quieter. Cheaper than Bangkok. I retired here and love it but that part of Thailand is great too. Have fun!

I stayed in Pai for longer than Chaing Mai without even planning to. The motorbike ride up was magical. If you get a chance, check out Koh Lanta in the south. It’s south of Bangkok

Was the best city! I lived in pai back in 2018 and was amazing have so much love for the place but it’s slowly starting to lose its charm! But glad you’re enjoying it
