Wolfie kun :
for those saying is a tech issue, tech guy here (not the actual tech of theirs, just a regular tech). The autotune is set pretty hard, there's a parameter called retune speed which is literally the speed the software will tune the signal; just as in the record and other songs (such as doubt demo and the contract), that retune speed is set very fast, that's just how Tyler likes it i guess, it's an artistic choice. He is an amazing singer, of course he does not need autotune, but it's no secret that pop singers always (or almost always) artificially tune their vocals in a record, and that's fine, it's just details; how ever, that artificial tuning is not made with autotune (except for actual hip hop or R&B music, not alternative music), instead it's is manually tuned with other program, and the if you want you can add autotune for the efect, again, as an artist choice. Now, live singing, Tyler is not helped with that previous manual tuning, so with an autotune set very hard, it's sensibility goes to the sky, so any minor (an natural) off key note he makes, will affect very drastically the autotune; basically, what he needs to do if he wants to keep the autotune effect, is to practice that particular note to hit it as perfect as possible (which he does sound like he's struggling to do) so the autotune knows where to retune and not deviate. I hope i explained well, this is just informative, i love the band, this type of stuff are just details.
