@julias.wildlife: 🔊👀 Have you ever seen or heard an Indri? The Indri is Madagascar's largest living lemur. 🇲🇬 These unique primates also go by the name of babakoto, weigh up to 9.5kg and are incredibly vocal. 🗣 An Indri couple stays together until death and they live in small family groups. 👨👩👧👦 🔎🤷🏻♀️ Scientists still don't know the exact meaning of this call but theories include communication between groups, setting of territory and boundaries, informing about the reproductive potential of group members or a warning signal. 💬 ****************************************** 📣 Let's spread some awareness about lemurs! The Indri is considered "critically endangered" on the IUCN Red List due to habitat loss. ⚠️ The remaining rainforests in the East of Madagascar are protected, but many of the extremely poor inhabitants continue to burn the jungle to make money. #animallover #wildplanet #teddy #indri #madagascar
