@qlab.app: When we released QLab 5 with a video engine built on Metal — Apple's modern video rendering technology — it made a huge impact on the amount of video you can play back from a single Mac. This quick demo shows an entry-level M4 Mac mini eating up a bunch of video. QLab on a modern Mac offers a tremendous amount of video output power, and you don't have to get an expensive Mac to do it. #QLab #mediaserver #theater #video #installationart
How about support for Blackmagic Decklink cards and their other Thunderbolt interfaces?

We have been having severe issues with video signal dropping out, and tested every possible thing and determined it was the apple M chips. I'm wondering if it was because we weren't using thunderbolt compatible cables? Everything worked perfectly when we reverted to our old Intel based mac.

truly remarkable the difference between Qlab 4 on Intel and Qlab 5 on Apple silicon, it's incredibly powerful and a much more flexible toolset, but I really wish that Apple supported more displays out of the box. too much of my life has been spent fighting with Matrox triple heads and similar products

This is incredible. Back in college I designed projections in Qlab on a 2012 retina MacBook Pro. It chugged. Even on later Intel models the video performance was never great. Now I’ve seen it firsthand and it’s smooth as butter. We’re doing some amazing things with multimedia in the Off Broadway show I recently sound designed. The video performance improvements and audio objects enabled us to do things that used to take way more time and money. Thank you for all you do with your software and for the community 🙏

Is there any potential to adding support for the NotchLC codec? I work across several media server platforms, and while I understand performance won’t be the same as a ProRes422, it would be useful to test content without transcoding.

Wait doesn’t the slicer turn the video into 1080p? I’m a little confused but very intrigued 👀

Coming from mostly using media servers in the past I’m growing more and more impressed with what Qlab can do at the price point it’s at. My only wish is for a built in masking feature
