UDP Administrative Secretary at the Manjai Bureau, Malick Sowe, has officially resigned from UDP RESIGNATION FROM ALL POSITIONS AND UDP “Dear Sir/Madam, Please accept this letter as my formal resignation from all positions I hold within the United Democratic Party (UDP), including my membership on the National Executive Committee (NEC). Furthermore, I hereby resign my general membership from the party entirely with immediate effect. This decision, though profound and deeply personal, is one of principle and conviction. It follows extensive consultation with my family, people from my village, my ward, my constituency, and my region. The overwhelming consensus is that the party we loved and dedicated ourselves to no longer has a place for us, for our values, or for the democratic principles upon which it was founded. The UDP I joined was a beacon of hope and a champion of internal democracy, justice, and equality. The party of today, as evidenced by its recent actions, no longer resembles that institution. The wrongful treatment of Mr. Talib Ahmed Bensouda, a dedicated and visionary son of The Gambia, is not an isolated incident but a symptom of a deeper malaise. It signifies a party that has lost its way and is heading in a direction I can no longer follow in good conscience. If a man of Talib Bensouda's stature, capability, and pedigree can be so utterly sidelined and disrespected, then it is clear that the prospect of a fair and meritocratic path to leadership within the UDP is an illusion. This reality closes the door not just on my own potential to ever aspire for a role like the party’s Flagbearer, but more importantly, it shuts out any future for my children within this organization. My resignation is therefore final. I cannot, and will not, be part of a structure that betrays its own core values and fails to nurture its best and brightest. I thank the party for the opportunities it provided me in the past. I wish the remaining membership well, but I must now seek a platform that aligns with the convictions of my people and my own unwavering belief in justice and democratic integrity.
