The glow doesn’t come from any lamps, it emanates directly from the walls, as if the surface were liquid light in constant motion. The air is thick, carrying a faint smell of ozone, like the atmosphere after a storm. No matter how long you descend, the stairs never seem to end. Fatigue feels distorted here, as though time itself doesn’t apply to your body. On closer inspection, the swirling colors seem to shift subtly when unobserved, resembling countless eyes that follow your every move. Psychological Effects: • Travelers quickly lose their sense of time and direction. • Staring too long at the swirling walls causes dizziness, auditory hallucinations, and an oppressive sense of being watched. • Some report that the walls whisper incomprehensible phrases when you are alone. Entities: • The Echo-Lights: Translucent shadow-like figures that appear within the iridescent swirls. They never approach directly, but can be seen faintly reflected in the stairway’s metal rails. Touching them pulls a traveler into the wall’s shifting patterns, trapping them forever in an endless loop of descent. • The Fallen: Former explorers who descended too far and never found the exit. They manifest as distorted, pearl-skinned figures with glowing eyes, endlessly repeating mechanical motions of climbing up and down the stairs. Exits: • Going back up the stairs never returns you to where you started—the staircases rearrange themselves, spitting you out into different halls. • The only true exit is a rectangular black doorway that may randomly appear at the bottom of a flight. It remains open only for a few seconds.
